Official guidance: practice in an open, flat area before riding on complex roads; wear a helmet and safety gear; push off with one foot to a coasting speed of 3km/h before using the thumb shifter to accelerate; release the thumb shifter to slow down, use the handle brake to brake (grasping vigorously performs an emergency brake, which risks falling); slow down before turning. Pre-ride inspection checklist: brakes not loose/too tight, thumb shifter springs back, handlebar not loose/stuck, folding-joint screws not loose, dashboard indicators working normally, battery level normal, front/rear lights and reflectors undamaged and functional.
